Diablo III: Open Beta Weekend

The following is great news for everyone potentially interested in Diablo III: Blizzard announced an open beta weekend, starting today!

We're pleased to announce the Diablo III open beta weekend, which offers open access to all players with a valid Battle.net account! Beginning this Friday everyone is invited to log in and help us put the game and servers through their paces in this three day stress test as we march toward the game's release on May 15. You can begin downloading the Diablo III client right now!

From Friday, April 20 at 12:01 p.m. PDT (noon), until Monday, April 23 at 10:00 a.m. PDT you'll be able to log in, team up with friends, and play each of the five heroic classes to level 13 as you fight to save the world from the impending demonic invasion.

(Times are GMT-7)

While this will allow Blizzard to test their servers - in particular, to check how they handle the load - it will also allow players to determine whether Diablo III runs smoothly on their computer, and whether they like the gameplay.

In order to get a taste of Diablo III, for free, nearly a month before the game's release, all you need is to log in to your Battle.net account (or create one), create your BattleTag, and download the game client.

I don't think the beta client is the same as the final game client.

Awesome. I wonder if after the game release do we have to uninstall diablo iii "beta" files and redownload all of it?
