Well, I guess we're finally here... After a long wait, our 30th diary. As you might see, things have changed. Let me walk you through the new aspects of the project...
We're back, better than ever before! JKG has received a brand new, beautiful website, hosted at Terran Gaming. Here, you can find old diaries, videos and images, as well as new content, more detailed information on the project and answers to frequently asked questions. Part of this fresh start is due to...
Over time, developers drifted away from the project, much due to the very fuzzy goal and no real planning. To revitalize the mod, we in the remaining team decided to split up the release of the project in several smaller phases.
Well what does that mean, phases?
It means that we will release a playable version of JKG far sooner than before, and each subsequent release will build upon it, bringing JKG closer and closer to a final release in which you will see the fully flushed out project that we envisioned 3 years ago. The first phase will basically be base gametypes (TFFA, CTF, FFA) with many of JKG's features! The next phase will be very co-op oriented, being much like instances you'll find in the full version of JKG. Phase 3 will be an RPGFPS, bringing JKG to an almost complete stature. Phase 4, the big one, will finally bring us to the LMORPGFPS that we promised you, oh so long ago.
We hope that our old supporters will follow us here to our new home, as well as grabbing the attention of a new audience. The same goes to developers – the current team is small, and we'll welcome old developers back, as well as fresh applicants, with open arms. We are certain that this will be the kick that revives a community that slowly goes dormant, with the proper support. If you think you've got what it takes, and are something of a perfectionist, don't hesitate to post an application! Just follow the link in the bottom right corner on the home page.
We're going radical here... We're going to do something that has never before been done in the history of this project. We will give you a release date! We are aiming towards having JKG: Versus ready for its initial release on September 17th 2012, which also is our 4th anniversary.
Well, it can't be a developer diary without any progress report, can it? After a long pause, we're finally going on the coding department again. Eezstreet has been working on implementing custom armor, as you can see here.
In an attempt to bring together everything combat- and weapon-related of JKG, BlasTech has written a detailed manual document covering all combat mechanics and detailed information on all weapons you can utilize in JKG. Use it to determine what loadout you would prefer, or comparing equipment out of the game. In a similar fashion to back when we revealed Pazaak... Have a preview. You will see more of this later on...
That's all we'll reveal for this time around – welcome to the new site, we hope we'll see you on the forum! We've already begun work on a new and improved image gallery, so stay tuned for more news in the future. If you want to be the first to receive word on updates, hit the "Follow project" button to the right on the home page. Over and out!
