EA Working on Battlefield 4?

The following banner was spotted on Origin by DigitalSpy. It has now been removed from EA's store.

This picture shows two important things:

Battlefield 4

The game has not been announced by EA, yet. But if the words "Battlefield" and "4" appeared on the publisher's online store, you can probably expect an announcement in the next few months.

Medal of Honor: Warfighter price

This $69.99 price only applies to "special" editions of the game, but still, EA is really milking the cash cow on this one:

  • XBOX360 / PS3 versions: $59.99
Nothing surprising with this price. Game publishers have to pay royalties to console manufacturers.
    Includes physical support (DVD)
  • PC version: $59.99
One has to wonder when PC versions started to cost as much as console versions. Publishers don't pay any royalties to release games on the PC.
This version still includes a physical support (DVD), and will be sold by retailers.
  • Origin version: $59.99
For this download-only version, EA does not pay any royalties, nor physical support, and there isn't any retail margin, either. Yet, it still costs the same.
  • PC Deluxe version: $69.99
This is basically the origin version, with an in-game bonus (additional characters)

Medal of Honor: Warfighter comes out on October 23, 2012 in North America, October 26 in the UK, and October 25 in the rest of the world.

Update: yes, EA is working on Battlefield 4.
